My top tip for 2020

Not only is it a new year... it is a new decade!  Having worked in the health & wellness industry for over 12 years now, I’m well aware that a lot of people set new years resolutions... especially when it comes to health and wellbeing, and lets be honest... more often than not, these new years resolutions are far from realistic.

Instead of setting new years resolutions, I like to choose a word or theme for the year.  Something I can focus on.  Something that will help create positive change in my life.

‘Show up’ is the theme I’ve chosen for 2020, and this can be applied to both my personal life & business life.  In fact when I sat down and really thought about how I can apply ‘show up’ to my life for 2020, I thought ‘holy smokes; I have to share this with everyone!‘  Showing up more in life is something everyone can benefit from!

My passion is to help people ignite their spark, so they feel high vibe and live a life that they love!  One of the biggest things that puts someones spark out, is when they don’t fully show up as themselves.  That’s right.  When people tone themselves down.  When people say what they think people want to hear.  When people dress in a conservative way, when really they want to dress in a different way.  When people do work that they don’t really love, because it’s a safe option.  When people aren’t being true to themselves and not ‘showing up’ as their true authentic self... that’s when they’re self sabotaging their inner spark.

We seem to live in a society where the majority of people really care about what people think of them.  When I work with clients, one of their number one fears is fear of judgement.  The result of this fear of judgement, is that they hide away.  They don’t fully show up and share their gifts with the world.  To be honest, I find it really sad, because people are holding themselves back from their full potential.

I get it though.  The fear of judgement used to be a big fear of mine.  Over the years I’ve learnt to show up and overcome this fear.  Sure it sneaks in here and there, but all in all that fear has dissolved because I faced it head on (some of you may recall reading my blog series ‘My Story’.  That was a big part of me facing my fear of judgement).

However, I still feel like I could be showing up more.  I’ve been leaning back into comfort instead of taking that leap and fully striving in the direction of my dreams.  I’ve let some opportunities pass me by, and I’ve decided enough is enough and it’s time to fully show up.

So lets break this down a bit.  Here’s a few ways that I’m personally going to show up more this year:

In my personal life:

  • Show up and embrace new opportunities (instead of letting fear get in the way)

  • Show up and dress in a way I like too (regardless of how different it is to other people)

  • Show up to social gatherings (stop letting social anxiety get the better of me)

  • Show up and participate in life (put myself out there more instead of hiding away at home)

  • Show up for my health & wellness practices (instead of letting excuses get in the way)

With my business:

  • Show up and share my passion via Facebook Live videos

  • Show up and be seen on Instagram stories & IGTV

  • Show up and tell the world about my services/products

  • Show up at business events and meet new people

  • Show up and work towards my goals no matter how big they are

  • Show up and connect with my community

  • Show up and be 100% authentic regardless of what people think

I don’t know about you, but one of my biggest drivers is the fear of regret.  I don’t want to get to the end of life thinking ‘oh, if I only I had the courage to really show up and do what I dreamt of doing.’  Some times it feels safe to hide away in the comfort of your discomfort, but when it really comes down to it, it doesn’t feel safe to me when there’s a chance of regret.

To fully show up as your authentic self, it’s important to know what your values are, your personality type, what your likes and dislikes are... know what makes you tick.  Know what excites you, and what sucks the life out of you.  I’ve really explored this over the last few years and I think that’s what’s given me the confidence to get over the fear of judgement, and got me ready to SHOW UP.  The more you know yourself, the more you can confidently show up.

Here’s to a magical 2020!  A year of showing up, owning who you are, and embracing all the opportunities that come your way!

Love,

Steph x
